GCIR

ASSIGNMENT: How can funders use film and other media to build awareness and help shape fair and humane public policies?

Grantmakers Concerned about Immigrants and Refugees (GCIR) is a nimble and creative affinity group that serves a range of foundations in the US and abroad. With AV Lab’s hands-on support, they’ve successfully integrated powerful documentaries such as The New Americans, Rain in a Dry Land, Sentenced Home, Welcome to Shelbyville, and others to jumpstart philanthropic and policy discussions about immigration today. AV Lab’s Ellen Schneider is a regular presenter at GCIR events and has provided media strategies to grantmaker workshops, publications and film compilations since 2004.
