“Talking about Organizing” A webinar with Center for Community Change [November 2017]

November 9, 2017

Thanks to Drew Astolfi, we presented a conversation with community organizers about The Future of Public, which was extremely inspiring. With Don Cohen providing context about why people need to be aware of the consequences of privatization, to Anton Seale Jr’s recap of how groups in Chicago are imagining (but not yet committed to) a customized pilot effort, the potential of community and national engagement came into focus. The cultural component — including 63 Boycott, to Backpack Full of Cash, even Maya’s recent discovery of a Black-ish episode on private/public school — seems key. Thanks to our hosts at the Center of Community Change, one great outcome is that CCC-connected organizers in Detroit, Oakland, Washington DC, Kansas City and St Louis are interested in hosting Future of Public focus groups.
